Kementsu has developed an underground cable locator instrument with a double functionality: it locates and identifies a LV or MV cable from the surface. It's working principle is based in two different systems:
Cable location and cable tracing is very easy combining both systems: the active signal is used to locate a cable. Before tracing the cable, the DCP mode can be enabled by pressing a button. This mode will tell you whether the located cable is the same cable where the transmitter is connected to. DCP mode can be used anytime while tracing a cable just to check that the traced cable is the target one. With this feature you avoid the long process of checking and comparing signal amplitude, cable current, cable depth, etc. in every point where the injected signal appears.
Directional Current Pulses are current pulses whose shape has been designed and patented by Kementsu. DCP’s main feature is that they don’t leak into other cables, appearing only on the cable where they are injected. With this system, the Ariadna TRZ can locate, trace and identify the desired cable where other similar instruments just provide information that must be processed by the user, without being able to conclude whether the located cable is the target one or not.
Directional Current Pulses can be detected both from the surface and in those places where the cable is accessibe, such as distribution boxes, trenches, at the transformer substation, etc.
